To be perfectly honest, I think this looks kind of bad ass. I'd get all the moving parts in pristine condition and drive it as is. You can't fake a patina like that.

I'd replace everything under the skin and drive it as is

I know a bronze artist who could fake any patina you can think of.

On Bronze, at least.

The only think under that skin is rust and despair...I've seen too many cars like that where there's almost nothing worth saving.

Can he do moss? This has a few years of growth to it.

I'm pretty sure there is plenty of rust and despair infused into the skin.

Probably true, but sometimes (and I pray its the case here) the body can protect internal components from even the worst kinds of neglect.

Actual moss, no, but he can make a damn convincing moss look. I've seen him make Bronze look like stone.

It looks pretty cool... That's something different other than matte and glossy paint.

That's awesome! Do you have a link with some pictures of his work? I love seeing how close people can get with artificial aging processes.

His patinas are sort of what distinguishes his sculptures. They look incredible in-person.

Kinja'd!!!

The two bears here are his. My mom has just perhaps had too much of that beer.

Kinja'd!!!

Edit- I should add that his are much more oriented towards creating unusual surface patterns using chemicals rather than artificially-aging the material. I'd be willing to be he could still do it, though. He could put most chemistry professors to shame when it comes to these reactions.

This photo makes me sad. Hopefully the internals are solid.

Sad, but in the most awesome way possible. That is amazingly beautiful.
